- Design a sheet in Canop: page size, number of questions, columns, sections and roll-number digits. Or use the standard Canop sheet.
- Print it. Smaller sheets can share an A4 page, which saves paper on a big batch.
- After the test, upload phone photos of the stack, or one multi-page PDF from any document scanner.
- Canop straightens each photo, reads the roll number and the bubbles, and matches the sheet to the student.
- Look over anything Canop has flagged, then save. Marks go straight into the student's record.
Answer keys that handle a real paper
Real papers are messy, and the key has to cope. A question can accept more than one option, each worth full or part marks, and negative marking is supported.
If a question turns out to be wrong after the test, you do not have to rescan anything. Grace it, and everyone who attempted it gets the marks. Drop it, and it stops counting for everyone. Canop rescores the paper.
From scanned sheet to parent's phone
Marks, ranks and solutions are released batch by batch, so several batches can sit one paper on different days. Once results are out, parents are told automatically.
Common questions
Do I need an OMR scanner machine?
No. A phone camera is enough, and so is a PDF from an ordinary document scanner.
Can I use my own OMR sheet?
You can design your own layout in Canop's template designer. Sheets need to be printed from Canop, because Canop has to know exactly where each bubble sits. It cannot read sheets printed by another system.
What happens if a sheet is unclear?
Canop flags it for a person to check rather than guessing, so a bad photo does not quietly become a wrong mark.
Does Canop support negative marking and part marks?
Yes. Both are set on the paper, and a question in the key can give different credit for different options.
